Two years ago, I drew a doodle of a fisherman named Tavor Baines - his appearance was based on my Dad. My initial idea was to develop a sinister Sweeney Todd style story called The Hideous Tale of Tavor Baines. I then found out my Dad was ill and it didn't feel right to continue the story in the same way. I decided to alter Tavor's appearance and began a fresh story...along came Jim 'the Fish'.
I made it my personal mission to get the story finished and a book made by Christmas, as a gift for my Dad. This left me with about 6 weeks to write the story, produce 20 illustrations and hand make the book, so I set to work. After bouncing several ideas around and conversations with my partner and a colleague I produced a narrative and then the storyboard of thumbnails.
After a lot of hard work and late nights, I succeeded! My first children's book, dedicated to my Dad, is now available to buy on Amazon: The Magical Adventures of Jim 'the Fish'.
